I just got my scd book. It is wonderful and expalins alot. I am on raw foods an am doing a vegan diet, but i can adapt this to my life and learn, i was making mistakes at frist but the scd book really explains what these are. delicious recepies as well. Please everyone read this book. I also learnt that you need to be on the SCD diet for at least two years, uc is not easy to see results from all the time, it takes a long time to heal from. Im still working on weight gain, i really hope to do this. Mistakes i made on my diet is - eating corn and eating sprouted beans.

Mom told me that sprouted beans are bad for me but I love them so much lol. Since I'm in remission or very near it I eat them anyways... not like they come up that often. And I just had corn on the cob today XD I'm horrible lol

Yea don't eat those, I may have just lost my remmison to spouted beans. I was holding really strong for 3 months but unfrontalty made some wrong decisions and am seeing blood. Im still going 1 or twice a day but in any case even a little blood is not good. weather you have constipation, diahrea what ever it is blood is a bad thing to see. Im still going to use the diet as i cant stand urgecy, i can not live my life in the loo all the time, but im going to have to find rectal meds to help. anyway this book will help if you dont want urgency, just dont expect to be perfect- no one i met is.

well if anyone is interested i  have just leant how to make raw vegan pizza. this is scd safe as it has no complex carbs and much more healthy www.youtube.com

I am TOTALLY interested in your pizza recipe. I just don't know how to work this whole chat thing or find you or this "thread" again. I taught a sprout class to a bunch of ladies and went crazy and ate all kinds and I am paying dearly! Blood being one of them and urgency. They require different enzymes and have a different molecular make-up that is great for others but not us in the condition we are in - it has taken a week to move it all out. I will not eat them for a very very long time.

Yea sprouted beans are hard for normal people to digest, so for us it is a sious mistake. I was eating lots of sprouts. after eating sprouted lentils my digestion felt as it went flat ( or something) then i went to the loo 4 times and with in 3 days i got blood. not masses but some. i didnt see any blood today so im hoping things have calmed down. for us do not eat srpouts. chickpeas, beans. bad idea. corn is also not recomeded. I went to the doc for rectal meds but the doc didnt help me. they said i had to be refered to my GI doc. which is a 4-6 month wait. so no rectal meds for me - lets hope and pray my diet keeps working as the NHS wont.

I've never heard of the SCD before. I'm going to look up some stuff online about it because I am ready to try anything. I'm seeing a naturopath next week for the first time so maybe I can ask him about it. Can you give me more info about the book so I can check it out?

I feel a little stupid but.... could you tell me what sprouted beans are? Do you mean liek the bean sprout things in Chinese food? (Yes, I've noticed they tend to come out looking the same as when they went in. EWWW!) But -are there other foods that are "sprouted beans"...? Maybe I'm overthinking this, but I'm thinking that green beans are, in fact, from sprouts which grow into plants and produce the green beans, but those have in them see which are not yet sprouted......

I generally stay away from beans in almost any form, unless I'm in remission, and same goes for corn.

sprouted beans or lentils are grown form the seeds. if they are not dried they grow into plants. but they are complex carbs so we can not digest them.

What kind of Dr. would hold back giving you meds that are known to help with a chronic disease? What was his/her reasoning. I would go back and try again. Your flare will be totally out of control in 5-6 months. Good luck!

oh its the nhs. its not that they wouldent percribe them its just that i have to wait to be seen. which im scheduled in jaunary. oh yes im staying on the diet. since all my bms are formed now with out using meds i am happy, if i was not on this diet i would end up in er. I have asked to move up my appointment but i have not received a letter of this. I asked 2 weeks ago. Im not flaring though. my blood test from the GP said no inflammation was seen. Im on 1-2 sometimes 3 bms a day. today i had no sign of any mucus. in england you have to see a GP. The GP doesnt percribe you the meds. the GI does. The GP can reperscribe but not make a new perscript ion. so all the meds i have are pentasa and asacol. my remission so far is all based on diet. even though i do still take meds.
