I was wondering since my doc recommeded 4 Lialda in the morning for my mild UC, can I take 2 in the am and 2 at lunch or something like that? They reason I ask, I remembering taking 3 of them and had the worst headache ever. Does anyone take 4 at time with no problems? Why take all the meds at once and not just spread them out, which I know Asacol does, but I would think it would stay constant in your body if you take throughout the day. Lialda I seem to tolerate more than asacol. I was on it, stopped, to get a peptid shot from my doctor and now picking up 2 weeks later. I will stay on it this time, shot or not shot.

I had headaches from lialda for the entire time (2 months) I was on them and I was only on 2 pills once a day...It is my understanding that Lialda is designed to be taken only once a day and my GI said that is the only reason he tries it first over Asacol...

I took two this AM no headache so far today. I'm just thinking how in the world does a body handle 4, what's the equivilant to asacol, how many is that i wonder?

When my son was taking 4 Lialdas per day, he took 2 am & 2 pm, then when he dropped to 3 he took 2 am & 1 pm. Now he is just down to 2 per morning.

My son was switched from Sulfasalazine to Lialda because of headaches on the sulfa. He is pretty much headache free now.

When I am flaring I take four, all at the same time with food in the morning.  I have been on Lialda for about two years straight and never had any side effects.  I just had blood work done that came back normal.  When I am not flaring I take two a day -again at the same time every morning with food.  I have never had headaches...but I think spreading them out would be okay too as long as you do not forget to take them.

I'm on Apriso, which is also a once-daily mesalamine, so very similar to Lialda. I'm sure it's quite fine to take 2 in the morning and two in the evening. The reason the once-daily meds exist is for the convenience of the patients! I was having problems remembering my noon dose of Asacol, and quite frankly, didn't like having to take it if I was in a restaurant, especially if I was eating with coworkers or something. I would have kept doing so if Asacol were my only option, but I love, love, love only taking Apriso in the morning.

I just started Lialda about  a month ago (from asacol) and I take 4 in the morning.  I havent had any side affects.  I dont know if Lialda is any better then Asacol though.
