Pins and needles anyone?

Hi all.

I was diagnosed with UC in July this year. tried all drugs available and eventually Remicade worked. still waiting for full remission, but can feel I am getting better.
I have been getting aches and pains, which I believe are a side effect of coming of the pred, but I also getting really bad pins and needles in hands and feet for no reason. They are really bad at night.
Just wondering if anyone else is getting these.
I am getting Remi infusion
4 Asacol daliy
Also taking probiotics, fish oils and multi vitamin

Are you on any medication? If so, the medicine could be affecting your heart. A common side effect of medication is heart palpitations. They feel like butterflies. I get them once in awhile. They get worse when I'm on certain medication. Even the Lexapro will increase my heart palpitations. I've been hooked up to a heart monitor several times. They only showed up once on the heart monitor. That was when I got my colonoscopy. I was taking prednisone at the time.

Heart palpitations are a symptom of mitral valve prolapse. With mitral valve prolapse, the heart valve doesn't always close completely. Many people have it and never know it. It's not usually anything to worry about. If the valve doesn't close completely, then I'll frequently feel flutters and get really bad pins and needles in the hands and feet. Sometimes, it can be really scary. My arm will feel so numb and fat and won't be able to move. I have to use my other arm to shake it and bring it back to life. I will literally wake up in the middle of night, not able to move my arm, and jump up on my bed, out of fear. They got worse when I was taking prednisone.

     Also could be a sign of neuropathy.  Is your blood sugar level normal?

Get your B12 checked, pins & needles are the first common symptom of nerve damage due to lack of B12 vitamins.

Last time I tapered pred I had pins and needles in my hands and feet. I asked my GI about it and he said he didn't think it was a side effect from pred. I couldn't find any other reason why I would have it. After I got off the pred the pins and needles went away.

Perhaps he said that because heart palpitations are listed as a side effect; however, pins and needles might not be. The thing is heart palpitations can cause pins and needles.

Im getting pins and needles in my feet! been awful today, no sign on it easing up either.

Currently on my 3rd day of being on Pred (30mg) as im on a 'suspected' flare-up.

Any idea's on how i can ease this? or how long it could potentially last for?
