Hello,I hope that all the people who are reading my posts will take the time to answer my surveys. I will never post more than one a day. They will be called "survey of the day." I know, creative...lol. I want to post these surveys and hopefully we can gain a better understanding of our disease through them. There is not enough research on U.C. I think it's interesting that U.C. and Crohn's sufferers make up the top two participants on this site. Statistically speaking, I think there are other illnesses that have more people yet ours seems to be the most vocal group. This indicates that enough is not known about our disease and we need to be even more vigilante. As stated earlier, I will post one survey a day. Some of them may seem less important than others. Please answer them as it will take only a few seconds and I intend to summarize the results via posts on here. Hopefully we can all continue to help eachother out. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.( It's Thanksgiving in Canada today)

Alan, please get this cleared through the administrator. This is a really interesting idea, but it needs to be cleared through him because it is a research survey.

Good luck!

And happy Thanksgiving to you, also! I understand Canadians stuff themselves with turkey just like those of us in the US.

I'm confused as to why this would be a problem. I'm not going to write a book...lol. I'm doing this for people in here. We are being shortchanged in society with the lack of understanding and research on our disease. Please, let's not start shortchanging ourselves in here. I hope that clear heads will prevail. Thanks.

Alan, you titled your thread "Some day I want to write a book" so I thought that was what you meant. I think it's a lofty and great goal. We had a member here who in the past gathered information to write some very good articles about UC for the New York newspaper, and Peter was happy to approve that. I suspect he would be just as happy to approve your project, it just takes a few days.
This is just to be sure he doesn't object, in which case he could decide to delete your polls. I'd really hate to see that happen to you!

Hi Judy,
Thanks, I think if I ever wrote a book it would be much longer down the road after living with this disease for several years. It's only been two months and I just want to jump in there and find as much information as I can. I want to look at the medicinal results people have had, their stress levels before and after being diagnosed with U.C., their love life, their work life, their level of happiness, their ability to deal with U.C. as time progressed, there are so many things. I am not out here to cause any trouble whatsoever, I'm just a harmless teacher from Canada...lol. I would be extremely disappointed though if this thread was deleted. I've had enough disappointment in the past year and am trying to pick myself up and do something good. I appreciate you letting me know how things work in here. I hope you have a great day. I agree with your statements regarding mesalamine and steroids...I felt a hundred times better before I was on them..

Thank you, Alan. While the rules may not always make sense at first glance, there are always reasons for them. There are always people out there (and I'm certainly not suggesting you're one of them, lol) who are waiting to exploit those of us who live with chronic illnesses, and none of us want that happening here.
Appreciate your understanding.

I voted (before I realized the poll was a bit questionable) that I'm married and that UC has had a large impact on my marriage...BUT, in a GOOD way. We both now know that if we got through having a newborn, while I was so, so, so sick (and especially before I was diagnosed and we didn't know what was wrong), we'll get through anything. We also live across the country from the rest of our family, so we didn't have help readily at hand.

Hello,
Thanks for the responses..I guess judging by how the questions are setup...the idea is if U.C. has impact,,it's a negative answer and if it doesn't have impact , it is a positive answer..Thanks for clarifying though Fruitgirl and thanks for everyone else who has answered and taken the time to comment as well.
