Well, it is that time again. Prep day today. Using Magnesium citrate. Never used this before. wish me luck

Yucky! Magnesium citrate was the 2nd least favorite. Good luck with the prep and the scope!!

Keep your eye on the prize: those nice, warm, sleepy drugs they'll give you tomorrow. It's been a long time since I did the mag citrate, but as I remember it didn't require you to drink a gallon of fluid in about 10 seconds like some of the others.

Good luck today, and a good report from your scope!

Thanks guys, the citrate is better than fleets, but as i am nearing the end of the bottle, i don't know if i will be able to finish without throwing up. I am going to try to slow down the prep a little to keep it down.

Got a question. I am so hungry, i am getting a headache. Is it ok to take tylenol

My last prep instructions said no aspirin, Tylenol, etc. for 3 days before the scope. I was dying of a headache when I went in. I couldn't wait to get the sleepy drugs!

Jano; do you have any hard candy to briefly suck on or some clear Gatorade to drink? This might help alleviate the headache a bit.

My GI told me I could take Tylenol during the prep but no aspirin, Advil, etc... It seems there are conflicting instructions out there, so I don't know what to tell you.

Both my old GI and my new one had said Tylenol is fine. My new one says I can even take it the morning of the procedure if I need to! But nothing else.

Maybe warm some apple juice & sip it slowly. It's hard to avoid feeling hungry when you can only have clear liquids, but if you keep swallowing some juice, broth, or tea & try lying on your stomach for a while it might calm the contractions a bit. I hate that super-empty feeling! Good luck with the scope & re-entry to regular life!!!!!!!!! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I stupidly forgot that I only keep sugar-free drinks in the house, and about half way through the day I started getting hypoglycemic. I was so weird I couldn't even do my own test, so my husband did it for me. Glucose was 50, and off to the store he went for some apple juice.

Ugh, I hate sweet drinks!

jano....hope you got through the prep OK.

Maybe next time yo could consider the gallon prep....? at least you won't be so hungry since you can eat the morning/noon of the prep and do it in the evening before the scope.
