I'm just soooo tired......any suggestions

I have pancolitis and I am in a flare.  In the past when I started pred 40mg I started feeling better quickly.  This time my gut seems to be getting better (not running to the bathroom every 30 min or having the TERRIBLE gas) but I still feel soooooooo tired.  I have had to take some time off of work because I just don't have the energy to make it through the day.  I am trying to eat high protein but my appetite just isn't very good right now.  My iron was low at the last visit and I am taking an oral iron suppliment.  Waiting to here from my insurance about Remicade.  I am hoping it will be the miracle drug for me that I have heard it was for so many others.  Sometimes I just feel worthless because I don't feel like doing anything.  This morning I got tired just taking a shower and getting ready to go eat with my son.  This site really helps me because I see that there are others out there like me.......THANKS P

dx severe pancolitis 2006 - hosp x5days

took Asacol for a couple of years then the dumb dr. I had took me off cause i was in remission

40mg prednisone - taper dose

omeprazole 40mg day

waiting on Remi

It is nice to hear that someone else gets tired while taking a shower...sometimes I have to sit down in the shower because I physically feel so exhausted...bc of it I end up taking a 30 minute shower but hey what are you gonna do lol.

When I was flaring severely and had a hard time eating solids, I often juiced spinach and carrots for breakfast. It's an excellent energy boost (and easy to digest).

Wow...I feel for ya'll. I'm tired too. I don't get tired taking showers though. Gardening I do.  I try to exercise for 30 mins. I've had people tell me to eat things that have protein even things like rice. We naturally get our fuel from the foods we eat. Spinach is definitely good for fuel. Also try Korean ginseng to help boost your energy.

I'm so tired all the time. Part of my problem I know is because my colon bothers me at night. It doesn't let me get the deep sleep our bodies need to rejuvenate itself. I don't feel like I really go into any deep sleep til 8 o'clock in the morning.

I work part time now and this might sound bad but I'm glad. I don't think I have the energy for a full time job anymore.

Well, here we go again, eh? lol....Judy, it took you 5 yrs. to go into remission? I thought I was the only one that seems to be taking forever to go into remission again. The first time I was diagnosed didn't take this long.

Dreamer, I started having my first clear symptoms in June, 2001. I went into remission in late March, 2006. So I had one long flare and one long remission so far. I'm dreading if the meds stop working for me, because I'll probably have to have surgery.

Ya know i have the same thing going on with me i have been in this flare for awhile now . Yes eating the right food is a big part but rest all you can let your body heal . I was trying to do it all all the cleaning cooking running the kids around paying the bill you name it i was doing it . I was so run down . I had a talk with my family my sons school . I knew i had to slow down so i did i started resting alot lol . taking naps and just resting and i can tell im starting to feel stronger and can hold out longer . Just give it a try
