Imuran experiences anybody???

So, I'm little miss don't want to get on the pharmaceuticals bandwagon because of the dreaded side-effects kinda gal, but this flare-up is the most stubborn to date and not only am I back on more pred but my GI is suggesting I go the Imuran route. I need to stop bleeding, most importantly, but I would also like to not have to take this drug for life...

What are y'all's experience with the stuff, side-effects wise, positive/negative effects? I know we're all different. Just would like some input... confused

ive read that lots of people have good experiences with imuran and it helped them achieve remission.
i tried it just 2 months ago and had bad side effects. nausea, vomiting, feeling unwell, tired, gall stones.... super duper high liver function tests. so i had to stop taking it. im intolerant to it i guess.

but i think i seem to be in the minority on that one.
just make sure you get your weekly blood tests to monitor.

Been on it 6 months or so....  Took about a month to kick in.  Side effects were not too bad, but noticable - some nausea, tiredness...  I was in a pretty nasty flare, and roids were not doing the trick....The Imuran worked great for a few months but recently I had a cold and I am back in a smaller flare now....not really any bleeding just mucous and urgency...  I attribute some of it to the food I was eating....  My flare was gone and I was hitting way too much junk food...

All in all I am happy so far I started with Imuran.  I am a little worried about H1N1, but I am more worried for my infant daughter than for myself....

It was a good option for me at the time and the situation I was in....you have to be patient because it does take a while to work....but eventually it kicks in....

I started on pred and Asacol, wasn't doing the trick, so they put me on Imuran. I stayed on Asacol for a few weeks til the Imuran kicked in and have been doing great ever since. I've been on it a few years now, no side-effects whatsoever. I get blood work done every... three months? Maybe more, I can't remember 'cause it only takes like five minutes.

And really, I'd try not to freak about side-effects too much, if you end up with very mild ones, I'm sure they're better than UC lol. If you get fatigue, take it at night instead of in the morning. Nausea, take with food I imagine. But I don't get those.
