I'll say a prayer for your son tonight.

Look up Dr. Ronald Hoffman and the Specific Carbohydrate diet.  I hope he and the diet can help you

Please, check to see if it is not an obstruction. A friend of mine has a daughter diagnosed with UC who kept complaining about pains after a Jpouch. They told her it was all in her head, that she was faking it to get "attention" or the attention she had gotten before when she had the pouch surgery. She cried whenever she ate and stopped eating, so they told her she was being anorexic as a way to get the attention. She even showed doctors where she felt the pain was but nothing was found via Xrays. Mother insisted and finally doctors agreed on using this method where they make you ingest these small loops to see where they get caught. Sure enough, one of those loops got caught at exactly the same place she was pointing all along. This apparently was not evident from the pill that you swallow and films the insides or other scans.

Butterfly42, you've gotten some great suggestions here; I will send all my good thoughts your way that JonPaul and you will get the answers you need. Do find a good doctor; one that listens to you. I went through two GI's before I found one that I could team with. JonPaul sounds like a wonderful young man and I'm sure he's thankful that he has such an incredible Mom.

Butterfly; I just realized you are in California -- sounds like close to Madera -- is it too far to drive to Sacramento, UC Davis? Or is it closer to UCLA? I'm in Sac if I can help.

I hope the doctors can find the source of you son's pain. Please be persistant with them, as that will keep them looking. Hugs to you and your son.

How is JonPaul doing? / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Old Hat thanks for checking on JonPaul. He saw the Ped GI in Madera last week and he had him do two days of Mag Citrate and Miralax everyday for the next two weeks, because he had alot of stool on the xray. He did bloodwork to check for celiac, crohns, uc, and food allergies, and stool samples. He's still having alot of pain and problems having bms. He did go to school today, but came home with a headache and stomach pain. He sits on the toliet and tries to go but very little if any comes out. I hope to hear from the dr tomorrow with test results and ill let you know the results and if he needs a colonoscopy. Thank you for your concern.

Butterfly.... I truly hope the doctor is able to find out what's going on with your son through some of the tests that he did. If he does need to do the colonoscopy, would it be in the near future according to the doc?

     I  will pray for your son too butterfly.  I feel so bad for all the young people suffering with this disease.  I wasn't diagnosed until I was 52 but had IBS for years before that.

      When I was at my GI doctor's office today a young woman brought her baby in.  The poor little boy couldn't have been more than six months old.  I could have cried, I felt so bad for this baby.  Wish they would find a cure for this. cry

The nurse called today and said some tests came back negative. But they are still waiting for the markers for uc, ibs, crohns, inflammatory disease. JonPaul is still having pain and not having bms. The dr is scheduling him for an endoscopy and colonoscopy. I pray he doesn't have any of these horrible diseases. Thank you all for you concern, encouragement and kind words. God Bless You All. Relieved to hear that the doctor is testing adequately. I know it's hard on both of you, but it's crucial to get the proper diagnosis. Keep in mind that some members' children have been successfully fighting off IBD since age 7-11 & upward. They'll be here for you should you need further moral support/practical advice. Continuing best wishes ... / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Lord,
Please watch over this sweet boy and his loving family in this desperate time...we have all been through various pains and are related thru this terrible disease..but your young ones suffer the worst...please ease this suffering.
