Suppository Leaks!!

Hello,

So earlier on in my UP experience I was prescribed the Pentasa suppositories and they were pretty clear in saying that they may leak/stain, basically be aware, so I was cautious with these.

Been having some flaring issues and my GI has now prescribed me Salofalk suppositories to go along with the enemas. First use today everything feels fine "butt-wise" but I got up from my desk and looked down at my seat...nice stain! I'm sure I also have one on my black pants as well! Doesn't feel wet or anything yet it still leaked. I guess I'll stay glued to my seat all day!

Anybody got any helpful hints as far as using these during the "work day" goes? I am a male if that helps in providing suggestions :)

 

Sorry, but regardless of your gender, a "light days" or minipad works best. They'll stick right to your underwear and catch those oily leaks. Check to be sure it's positioned over the right area when you're standing and sitting. The only other solution is to stuff some toilet paper between your butt cheeks, but that gets pretty irritating.

I guess I'll have to start raiding my wife's supplies. You guys gave me the answer I did not want to hear...though I kind of figured this was going to be the obvious solution.

I wear a panty liner too but I've never had a leak with the suppositories. I have had where I had gas and a little went out. Were you doing a little something in your work chair?  

Sheesh...one little tidbit of info.

I sent my wife an e-mail telling her to protect her supplies and buy extra next time she goes...sure she'll have a chuckle too!

 

My solution to avoid wearing the "lightdays" for at least a little while...

I'm using the suppository at bedtime and my Cortifoam in the morning, I don't have leaking issues with the foam.

That sounds like a good plan ZLSJ....just remember to hot fart in the middle of the night or when you get up before you make it to the toilet....

A hot fart, could, I suppose, be new-fangled terminology for a wet fart, but if that were the case, she'd have said "just remember to not hot fart..."

Good thing you were wearing black pants! I hate those little gooey buggers. At one office visit a couple yrs ago my gastro brought up the subject because a medical student was there in training. I immediately complained that suppositories LEAK. The gastro then said that another patient claimed it helped to use an Anusol to push the Canasa up higher-- so that it would melt farther inside one's body. Who has time/patience to unwrap more gloppy packets to play piggyback with that crap? You seemed to arrive at the most sensible solution: USE FOAM instead. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Yeah....typos can create new and interesting concepts..lol!
