Greetings all.

QUESTION, i had a pooh the other day and like most of us with UC i check my stools which lately have been ok but this specific day it was less well formed so i had a poke about and noticed an undissolved tablet(mezalazine). Is a flare about to raise its ugly head again?

It's not that unusual to see whole tablets in your stool. It just means that at that given time your ph level in your colon didn't break it down properly for it to disperse it's med. If you notice that your symptoms are returning or becoming worse it might be time to change to a different medication. One that can dissolve a little easier.

CC, you must have missed the funny posts about people who keep flashlights in their bathroom to get a real good look!

I think there are different meds that melt in different ph levels, but I bet your doc would have to do some reseach to find the right one for you. That said, if it only happens once in a while I wouldn't worry about it.

i also noticed full tablet out in my stools once because it was lying right on top ... so i really dnt know how many times it has come out that way. But i dnt think there is anything to worry abt as this happened in September & i did not get a flare up that month...and i am sure my recent flare up in October end has nothing to do with it.
