ooo im so excited that my name is in a title!!!

But no, i have a perm ileo. I chose that cause i didnt want the risk of jpouch failure, which is actally very low, but i have a lot of bad luck, lol.
And i just wanted to be done with the whole, done with surgeries and using the toilet the regular way, lol.

     Well, that is what I asked my doctor about yesterday because my problem is and always was the rectum!  He said that they don't recommend taking out just the rectum because UC has a way of returning to other parts of the colon.  But, how can he be sure of that?  If Remicade doesn't work I am going to find a good colorectal surgeon to talk to about an ileostomy.  Thanks for the info.

with UC they dont just take out part, thats why we cant have colostomys, because it will just attack the rest of the colon. I mean there might be a lucky few that dont have it turn it somewhere else.

     I'm confused..lol.  What is the difference between a colostomy and ileostomy?  Didn't they just take out your rectum? confused

Hello,

I don't mean to barge in on your thread...but,

I believe a colostomy is the removal of the rectum or part of the colon so the stoma is actually the end of the remaining colon.

With an ileostomy the whole colon is removed and the stoma is the end of the small intestine, the ileum.
