Ive been taking Salofalk for about  a year now, and ive been experiencing painful pack pains, not to mention the headaches and weakness/diziness. its not constant, about once a day around 4:00 ill feel terrible. just womdering what other medication i could use. i told my doctor about it but he didnt suggest anything else. what other similar medications have fewer side effects? thanks people :)

I never heard of this medication and it was never offered to me. I don't understand why the doctor doesn't listen! I went through that with Asacol because I still had some symptoms and aches and pains even though supposedly I was just about in remission. (I asked in a previous post about if people still have sort of syptoms even in remission). Anyway, the doctor wouldn't give me anything else and I stopped Asacol and changed over to some natural products (I don't know how long this will last but at least any other pain is gone.) I would ask your doctor again and again....there is no need to have extra pain. This illness sucks enough as it is!

Alice .. Im on salofalk and having the same thing !!!!! I am on 3g at the mo .. I take 1 sachet morning and 1 at night. I generaly feel crap all the time... I get the dizzyness like you are going to just pass out feeling and horrible headaches...... I get back pain when I wake up I cant move its agony and only im up and moving about (and emptied my bowels) does it go.

hmmm i wonder if i should switch too

Salofalk I think is only offered in Canada so maybe thats why it wasnt offered to you (depending on your location i guess)

Hey Alice,
I was first put on Salofalk and i had bad bad cramps and back pain....it was a distinct pain that caused me to pee blood. No one believe that it was the Salofalk but it stopped when I stopped taking it. And i tried takin it again a few months ago and the same thing happened.

I am taking Asacol but it cause me such bad hair loss....:S

thanks for the replies all. i feel better knowing im not alone. im gonna talk to my g.i again, see what else he can offer me.
Venny- i know that pain youre talking aboout! i guess id rather deal with the back pains than the hair loss, right?! does anyone know anything about natural remedies? im so new to this, and not sure how to handle this. not to mention im STILL bleeding almost everyday, even with these meds, isnt it supposed to stop me from bleeding?
