Sex ? ??????????

Hi all

I have had uc flare for a year, has been made alot better thanks to pred, but i still have a flare in my rectum .... it feels sooo swollen which is making it hard for me to have/want sex!

I guess the vagina being so close to the major swelling its going to really upset everything but its getting to me a bit now!

Do any of you ladies have any words of wisdom to share ???

I am on 3g Salofalk and 1g pentasa suppository .... which makes everything a bit more sore to be honest !

Omega3s help reduce inflammation. A healing implant enema and/or healing ointment may help.

what about neosporin with pain relief? You cannot use it forever, but it helps me when I get butt blisters.

Crazycolitis- **** and ********** is nowhere near as fun as with a partner. Also, if you're in a relationship with an active sex life, suddenly not being able to partake despite wanting to can cause extra stress, and is pretty frustrating for the sick person.

Imagine having a tasty cake in front of you, but you can't eat it cause you're lactose intolerant. Instead, someone gives you some shortbread cookies. The cookies are alright, but you KNOW the cake would be so much better, richer and more decadent. That's pretty much the difference there.

To the OP: I have the same problem. You have two choices: either find a position that doesn't hurt as much (though with me that tends to be tempremental) or stick to foreplay until you're not flaring so badly anymore.

I totally get where crazycolitis is coming from and I believe those suggestions probably would be very helpful but I agree, being married myself I'd rather have good old sex then anything else...and I'm 100% my hubby feels the very same way...though on occassion there's nothing wrong with having the "cake" and the "shortbread cookies" together especially if you happen to have a big "appetite" LOL.

I prefer side-ways myself or from behind (standing up) sorry if that's too much info, it's less preasure on the rectom and anus and with my anal skin tags I need all the comfort I can get.

Having just got my mojo back after a two-month long disgustingly chaste flare... I have to say that certain positions still rub me wrong (unfortunately one of them is my partner's favorite and one I usually love :-( ), we just have to play around and experiment.

Me on top seems to help quite a bit because I can control the speed, pressure and whatnot.

Also, when the flare was more mild, before it got bad and we stopped having sex, if I was hurting with penetration, then digital manipulation helped keep us sexually active without irritating me.

You just need a LOT of patience, communication, and humor for both partners.

And yes, prednisone does seem to mess with desire. It took me like three times as long to climax as usual. But it happened.

Oh yeah... and morning sex after the suppository evacuation might work better... or before insertion in the earlier evening. I haven't tried sex after putting in the suppository and quite frankly, wouldn't want to.

I agree with a prior poster. On top is about the only way I'll do it when I'm not feeling so great.

I have very large perianal crohn's skin tags, I cannot have mine removed or I'll end up worse off, we pretty much "get busy" in the dark anyways but my hubby has seen them, he says he dosn't care and I believe him, afterall he isn't perfect (anymore) either, we've been together for decades and I've had the skin tags for almost as long as we've been together.

You can certainly talk with a surgeon about surgery options for yours though...I have but learned it wouldn't be worth it in my special case.

Where to start !!
Im married so i want to have sex with my hubby ! We have 2 youmg children so dont do it alot ! But it would be nice to not have to think about my ass all the time. The pain has been quite unbearable lately ... Im seeing my doctor tomorrow to see what he can do for me.

I wouldnt worry about how your bum looks... I dont im more worried about how it feels and if im going to crap myself infront of people! I have skin tag but my hubby does too, not every one is perfect, those that are dont stay like it for long !!! x
