Flare -- what to do?

I was diagnosed with UC 3.5 years ago. After an initial prednisone dose, I did well on Imuran (100 mg) + Pentasa (2000 mg) for the past 3 years. Now I am having a flare up for the past 3 weeks after some beer, which I know is a trigger (my bad :(-- some bloody stools, 2-3X BM/day. My doc is thinking of Remicade or a clinical trial drug, but I don't want to go down that road.

Any suggestions on how I might be able to get back -- will a short dose of prednisone work? Or increasing Pentasa?

I am also trying SCD and that seems to keep things a bit under control.

Call the doctor and ask for some rectal meds before going on prednisone. The beer didn't cause your flare.



You could also consider to take probiotics and fibre supplements.



What exactly are your symptoms?



Where in the colon is your UC...throughout or limited?



Have you NEVER used rectal meds in the past?
