has anyone taken cimzia for UC?

Even though Cimzia is only technically approved for Crohn's, my doctor suggested that I try it because Remicade has stopped working for me and now I'm in the middle of a flare-up :( Has anyone been prescribed Cimzia for UC? Did it work well? I'm really nervous because I'm a student and I'm supposed to be studying abroad next semester, but I don't think I'll be able to go if my symptoms stay this bad. If you have tried it, how long did it take to work?? Thank you!

There is a prime difference between prescribing medications for Crohn's and UC. Crohn's can't be cured by surgically removing the colon. UC can.

hey,

I was just speaking to GI doc up in Boston area who says that Cimzia can work for some people in Colitis when Remicade didnt do well. Something to do with antibody formation.

Try it if ur doc thinx it will help.
have u tried to Specific Carbohydrate diet?

feel well

thanks, ghena. i did talk to my doc about it and i'm doing the first loading dose of cimzia on friday. she says she's had a lot of patients who stopped responding to remicade so she put them on cimzia instead and they responded really well.... that's what i'm hoping for! it'll also be a relief to be able to self-inject (eventually, they have to teach me first...) instead of having to go in for like 3-4 hours every 6 weeks for remicade. i'm sort of nervous because i have such high expectations for the cimzia, but hopefully i won't be too disappointed. wish me luck!
