Should i buy Align probiotic at Costco?

hi, i am planning to start probiotic again & i nearly bought Align probiotic : $39 for 7 weeks supply (1 per day)....but then i thought i will check at our forum if it helps us as well because our problem is more than just "bad digestion". Here is the link : http://www.aligngi.com/

has anyone tried it...is it worth buying? my last probiotic did not help a bit so i am planning to try a new one.

It contains:
Probiotic strain: Bifantis (Bifidobacterium infantis 35624), 1 x 109 colony-forming units (1 billion) (4 mg), microcrystalline cellulose (for even dispersal of cultures), hypromellose (vegetarian capsule shell), sugar, magnesium stearate (for even dispersal of cultures), milk protein,† titanium dioxide, sodium citrate dihydrate, propyl gallate (antioxidant stabilizer), FD&C blue #1, riboflavin (colorant)

I've heard you need at least 5-10 billion CFU's per day to be effective, but I think some people on here use it and find that it works. Mine has 12 billion/capsule, and they say to take 3/day, but I only use 1.

I got relief from unformed stool at about 3 weeks on Align.  Doctor gave me a month sample.  I still take it - over a year later and have tried Primal Defense and one other (can't remember name) but Align works for me.  I get mine on ebay.

My doc recommends Align partly because it's so widely available. I like the Ultimate FLora Critical Care and buy it from Amazon.

I wouldn't use it because it has only one strain of probiotic....but as others have stated, it's fine for them and always worth a try.

I don't think it's enough, however it can be used with something else eventually.


What probiotic were you using before?

Align was the first probiotic I took and it did help. I'm finding the one I'm taking now to be even more helpful but everyone is different. You can try it out and if it helps you can stick with it or you can add another if you'd like.

I do believe that if Align did not do what I need for me I would try the others.  Primal defense made me MUCH worse and the phillips one did nothing so back to Align! What would you consider "some" help?

I get my Align at Costco (I believe there is a $5 off coupon in the current Costco coupon book). I've been using it for about a year now and I really like it. I try lots of other types of probiotics to mix things up but Align has always been constant.

@quincy: i do not remember the name of the probiotic i took ..it had both acidiphilus & bifidus - 45 million i think! i kept it refrigerated. What are the bacteria we need to look for in probiotic?

I think the bacteria vary in what people an tolerate regarding some symptoms and what one's needs are.

You might look up probiotics such as Culturelle and VSL#3..they might give some insight as to what the researchers are viewing as positive.

What I look for....rhamnosus and plantarum for sure with others in there as a mix. Reuteri is good also....
