I've had the same thing for years. Doctor said I had internal and external hemorroids. I imagine that is the lump.

There was a time I didn't know what it was so I just ignored it hoping it would go away (didn't know how severe they could be). As a result, I had to have surgery top have internal and external hemmies removed. One of the most horrifying experiences of my life as I was wide awake during this surgery.
Since then, I have learned and will apply Prep H Cooling Gel as much as needed and take baths that are as hot as I can take. Only had one or two bad incidents since. It is amazing how many muscles feel connected to that area of the body when you have a hemmie.
I say, when in doubt, soak, apply gel and lay down as much as possible. If no change, go tot he Dr.

I'd say. Try Prep H or witch hazel on a cotton ball. Prep H took mine about
halfway down, then quit working, and I switched to using the witch hazel multiple times a day and that took care of it.

I'm afraid the cotton will get stuck up there.

hmmm, I'd never think to leave the cottonball in my arse....is that what you mean Christine?
I'm taking it to be applied to the anus and maybe a bit in.....considering it spreads a bit when we sit/squat.
