Hi all!
I haven't been on in a long time. My UC is doing GREAT. My problem lately, though, has been hip pain. I had asked my PCP to take a look at it about 4 months ago, she said (of course) to see orthopaedics. I saw a general guy who took X-Rays. I told him about my UC and my prednisone use. I told him that I was worried about Avascular Necrosis as that is a possible side effect of the pred use. The X-rays (to him) were normal.
I have basically stopped my running, elliptical use, etc. I hate not exercising, but even stopping my activities didn't help my hip pain. So, off to the hip specialist I went. I ended up getting a MR arthrogram. (FYI that rates pretty close to the flex sig without sedation on my list of NOT fun things to do). Well, I have a tear in my labrum and will need to have it repaired. I have what they call acetabular - femoral impingement, my hip socket is too deep, so my femur keeps jamming into that deep socket and fraying that labrum tissue.
Since I have taken so much time off of work in the last couple of years with the two major UC flares that I had, I have very little (about 3 weeks worth) of Paid Time Off available. The surgeon says I would have to be off work (I'm a physical therapist, on my feet all day) for 6-8 weeks. I will need to wait a few months to build up another few weeks of PTO. The surgeon suggested Celebrex for my pain / inflammation. He wrote the prescription and told me to fill it if I needed it. I called my GI and he said "It's better than a NSAID." Not a real vote of confidence, if you ask me.
What is you guys' experience with Celebrex?
Thanks!
Jen
