So tiered

Hi.  I have been suffering with UC/Chrons Disease for the last 5 years.  I have been on many treatments only one helping, being Remicade.  I guess this post is two part. 

 

I have flares on occasion, but only when I am not able to get Remicade treatments.  My insurance company does not cover the whole treatment and they are costing close to $600 every 6 to 8 weeks.  I can't afford the bills coming in, and if I don't get the treatment I am out of work, and then I am really in trouble.  I have recently been placed on Humira. When I started taking this drug I had been given a Remicade infusion at the same time.  The Remicade is now wearing off, and I am experiencing a flare up.  Anyone know of any where I can get help to pay for these infusions.  They are the only thing keeping me out of the hospital, and really, alive......

 

Secondly.  When I flare up, I am in so much pain.  I have horrible cramping and frank red blood in my stool.  I also vomit.  And I vomit each time I move my bowels.  I am currently on prendisone along with the Humira, and I think that may be worsening the vomitting.  Has anyone else had this symptom?  What is it that you use for pain?  I think the pain could be causing the vomit, and the predisone making it worse. 

 

I am so burnt out from the back and forth with all of this, and flaring and then starting to get my life back on track and flaring again.  Any advice or info anyone can share is greatly appreciated.

ah yes... that sounds like my flares to the Tee!

i have the most painful cramping, the pain is so bad when i go to the toilet that i involuntarily puke. everytime.
i have to keep those plastic grocery bags stashed next to the toilet so i can puke and poop at the same time.
and its not even poop... its blood, blood, bits and more blood.
like kool aid in the toilet bowl.

if anyone looked in when i was done they would promptly and completely freak out and probably want to rush me to the hospital.

it takes about 45 minutes after a BM to recover from the pain. then you back in the can.
it is the pain that causes vomiting. dr said its not uncommon with severe belly/gut pain.
sometimes i got nosebleeds as well from all the presssure pooing and puking. glad i didnt pop a vein or something!

i had to take endone (oxycodone) for the pain. regularly. about 5mg every 4-6 hours. and if you forget, its bad cuz then you go thru the pain again and have to wait for the meds to kick in.
better to keep taking it at the right time to not feel the pain.
although it does nothing for when your having a BM. that is just white knuckling, moaning, screaming gonna die type pain.
i wish my toilet had handle bars for those times!

its pretty horrible being a human double ended fountain in the bathroom and then the pain on top of it.
get some good pain meds and take them. take them regularly so you dont have to deal with the pain coming back and getting rid of it again.
some people worry about addiction.... worry about that after the flare goes away. while flaring, just make it so you can tolerate existing and get rid of the pain.
it is very debilitating. not being able to move, leave the house, get off the bed....etc...
and dont forget the plastic baggies next to the toilet!
