Finding a new GI?

Anyone here have any tips for finding a new GI? Mine is too far to travel to on a regular basis, and I don't like that he uses his UC patients as cash cows by scheduling appts every 3 months or so and using prescriptions as a ransom by only prescribing 3-4 months of meds.

I'm in Northern NJ if anyone has any personal recommendations for that area, or if someone can refer me to sites that'd be good too.

Mine does the same thing! And she's not even nice. If she was, and listened, I wouldn't even care that much.

Are there any teaching hospitals within an hour's drive?

The traveling may be a nuisance, but scheduling appointments every 3-4 months is advisable-- especially if you have trouble getting to or maintaining remission. My gastro has an incredibly busy practice-- so no need to schedule patients just to fill seats in the waiting room/keep income up, but says it is best practice to monitor IBD patients 2-3 times a yr given the insidious nature of our ailments. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
