How long is too long for cort suppositories?

I have been on and off cort suppositories now for months. I tapered off of them as my condition improved. Lately, I have been having loose stools with some bleeding. It says on the package that the dose is six to eight weeks.. yikes!

I also have urgency issues and wonder if these suppositories could be ruining my rectal lining and making things worse sad .

I'm not sure about the suppositories.... I was on the steroid enemas for almost a year at one point. You could ask your doc. I'm sure it's fine to be on them for more than the 6-8 weeks, but a year, as I did, is probably too long...

"Bottom" line - my hunch is it might be best to think about getting off them (starting a taper), but don't panic about it.

I am not sure about the suppositories either but I was also on steriod enemas for a long time once - probably six months...really it was too long because they were not helping me at all.

Long term steroid rectal med use has been shown to thin the rectal lining. How long is long term...I can't tell you. But I do know that I am fine after being on steroid enemas for pretty much a whole year.
