hi,
This autoimmune leads to many problems.... well i have a new problem which i dnt know whether it is due to my autoimmune.
I was very regular with my periods and suddenly no longer have them since November'09. The blood work has been normal... I asked my ob/gyn and he said maybe your pitutary gland is not functioning properly....but my Prolactin test measures were o.k...... I asked him if this could be due to my autoimmune stuff ...he said - could be! because i already have my Thyroid problem(Hashimotos) which is connected to Pitutary... i didn't understand well...but i think my autoimmune might be causing this problem as well... all this when we were planning to start family...Right timing!! smilewinkgrin

Are you still flaring? If so, it could very well be from that. Many times, when women are sick, they just stop having their periods...it's kind of a "survival mode" thing. Your body knows that it's not capable of carrying a baby, so you don't ovulate, and therefore, no period. If it doesn't resolve itself once you're well, then I'd start digging a little deeper.

yes, i am still flaring.... have recently started Rowasa. But this never happened in past so was worried.

if u trying to start a family, maybe your preggers.

i had 3 tests (2 at hospital and 1 at dr's) that said negative and i actually was pregnant.

If not preggers, you might need to consult an endocrinologist. Your ob/gyn sounds vague in his explanations. In decades past I heard about women who suddenly stopped menstruating in their late thirties. As they already had children, they didn't care about pursuing the issue, which likely was endocrinal -- they didn't have auto-immune disorders & otherwise functioned well. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Weighing in, my UC never disrupted my periods.
