Hi everyone -

 

My apologies in sending this e-mail as this topic has probably been addressed many times.  I did try to search the topic using the search feature, but I didn't find my answer.

 

Is it okay to safely use 6MP and birth control pills together?  I started 6MP in January 2007 and for some reason - I remember hearing then that the 6MP in essence "cancels" out the effectiveness of birth control pills.  I figured why bother taking the BC pill so I stopped taking it.

 

I really miss being on it and am hoping I got wrong information.  I do have an appt. with my GI but it's not for a few more weeks.

As far as I know, that's not true, I was on Imuan and bc at the same time. But maybe you should do a web search instead of just on here. Personally I can't take bc because of my UC but it was fine with the meds. I miss it too.

Yeah I haven't heard that either. I've been on the pill for 4 years and was 6-mp during that time, but I wasn't 'active' then. If any medications interfere with BC they make sure to tell you what NOT to take. For instance, antibiotics reduce effectiveness of BC and they tell you that on the bottle.
