OT - The movie Avatar

I work at a movie theater (not my choice...) and around Christmas, showings were selling out left and right. Since people were ranting and raving about it, I finally saw it with my boyfriend. Honestly, it was an okay movie but not as great as everyone was saying. It was entertaining but not something I would go and see again. We saw it in 3D. The graphics are amazing so if you can bring yourself to cough up the extra money for 3D, I'd do that.

Ohhhh I LOVED that movie! I've been to a lot of 3D movies but this one really was worth it in my opinion. The graphics are awesome and the storyline entertaining. When it comes to DVD this is one is definately going in my library for sure. My MIL doesn't like the 3D movies much but she even enjoyed this one.

If you are going to see this movie, see it in IMAX 3D in high def...fantastic!!

Wouldn't it be nice if we can switch bodies temporarily (without the tail of course and blue skin) so we can go to work, restaurants, etc.

Great movie though!

It was alright. Not as good as the hype everyone was throwing about. The only thing special about it was the animation.

Between that movie and dark angel (90's scifi tv show w/ Jessica Alba), I'm really starting to wonder if James Cameron is into cats in a bad way.

Outstanding movie....have seen it 3 times in IMAX 3D. I'm a graphic designer and animator and the effects are by far the best I have ever seen. The technology used to create this movie is by far the most advanced in the industry...absolutely groundbreaking technology. The story to me was great...has this type of story been done before, absolutely, and portions of the story was predictable. The concept of the movie was very original. The movie industry will never please everyone with a story...when was the last time you saw a movie without one bad review lol. It's definitely worth seeing, it definitely is an "experience", especially in IMAX. This movie is now the all time grossing movie...it just recently surpassed James Cameron's Titanic and is now over the 1.9 Billion mark in just over a month of release.

Definitely see it in 3-D. It's a long movie, over 2.5 hours. Check out the website, www.runpee.com, if you think you wouldn't be able to sit that long. It's a great site that let's you know what times in a movie you can go to the restroom without missing too much.

you cant tell computer generated from the real i thought. it was pretty seamless.
even the blue people seemed real after a little bit

as for plot and opinions... its a MOVIE! enjoy it. its not a freakin documentary.
just be entertained!

The Avatar is a must see in the theater in 3D. The graphics are awesome!

kazy- Sometimes it's hard to be entertained when the movie is beating you over the head with a large mallet trying to get across its messages.

I haven't seen Avatar yet...looking forward to it, however.

Regarding messages...EVERY movie has one, unless I'm missing the point.

I saw the movie District 9 and thought it was one of the best movies I saw EVER....the messages it had it it were pretty much missed by most of the people I know. I certainly wasn't disappointed by the messages, I was surprised as to how complex they were.

Certainly a movie that could be discussed in many areas of psychology, sociology, religion, culture, etc.

quincy-i know, but like I said, Avatar was really, really not-subtle about it. I don't like things quite that blunt, probably why I tend to enjoy thrillers and occult horror.
