Some members here might remember that a few months ago I was applying to graduate schools for my Ph.D.
Well, I just got a response from my first school, and...I was admitted! I'll officially be a graduate student come September.
I mean, this school was my safety, but now I can't wait to hear back from everyone else!

Congrats!
A week or two ago, I started an "IBD & Grad School" thread on the Crohn's forum if you want to check it out.

Congratulations!!!! That is wonderful, and I commend you for your hard work. Getting a higher education can be a challenge in and of itself, let alone doing so while living with a disease like UC. You should be filled with pride!!!!

More thanks to everyone!
For those asking about
my area of study-I did my undergrad in biology and am hoping to do my grad work in infectious disease. The program I've gotten into is actually an entomology program where I'd be focusing on insect-borne diseases, but the other programs I have applied to are more emerging infectious disease and pathology.
bookworm: I'll check it out.
supa: Even more challenging? The prospect of working in a sterile lab environment or a space suit during a flare! LOL.
