I still flare while using my maintenance meds. Life gets in the way, it is what it is. I'd not ever stop using them because I flare. Meds won't keep you from having a flare, they will help keep your flares to a minimum.
Flares...subjective. Some may not consider mine a flare....depends on what criteria UCers follow. Treat now, treat later...I don't wait as I did 20 years ago.
Regarding food. The word role is semantics. If food disagrees, don't eat it, but it won't cause you to flare.
Start on the enemas rather than skirting the issue with the suppositories. They're more for support than for treatment. Use them for maintenance.
When you had your bm, did you have any discomfort? did you have only one bm?
Was there blood on the tp or throughout the stool?
You're just off the pred and need to step up the rectal meds until all resumes normalcy again. Maybe in the future, you can avoid pred altogether.

Quincy,
Ive been reading a lot of posts and been reading your replies.. You must know what your talking about
!!.. a few pointers for me please?
My Doc has told me, a few weeks ago that he wasnt giving me anymore pred.. I agree with him, but im still flaring!! -He didnt give me any alternative options, just told me to hold out until 26th Feb (I see my consultant). I cant get my hands on vsl #3 so Im taking another probiotic from a company called boots .. anyways, my question to you...I though that an enema was what I have been taking for about
10days now.. a drug called pentasa?.. but this is a suppositrie??. now im confused.. what are anemas?.. another drug which ive took in the past is called predfoam.. is this an anema?
.. Should I be taking something (annema) to get this under control first, then use the pentasa to keep it under control?.. Have to say, since I decided to take the pentasa, I have noticed a big difference.. down from 10bm a day, to 5 or so. getting less blood, I think Im close to normality again. Your no quack, but you seem to know your stuff.. a reply if you would sir??.. Thanks.
