OTC pain relievers

What is a safe OTC pain reliever? I would like something to take once in a while.

I take generic Tylenol for arthritis before UC and now every day for my knees, etc. It is safe when taken as directed on the bottle.

I take tylenol and aspirin....but don't listen to me, I have the OK from my GI.

Tylenol is questionable to me considering its link to liver-prone problems. I would say don't exceed any limits.
