Mucus on stool

 ok so after about 5 days on the asacol both ends!

 Im passing normal stools no blood just mucus over the stools.

 Is this a normal progression of taking the drugs?

If what you are seeing is a white coating over the stool the morning after doing an enema then more then likely it is the enema that you are seeing. That is completely normal. You will get a wide array of stool colors while on an enema. But if you are passing mucous thru out the day, then it means that something is still irritating your colon. It sounds like you're doing much better though!

No Im not passing any mucus through the day so I guess its the enima.

Just for the record, I have not used any rectal meds in the last 5ish yrs and from time to time I still see a bit of whitish colored mucous in/on my stools, this is normal basically....everyone's stool has some mucous content since this is how we're designed so although it can be any color from white to clear to brown (red usually means blood is mixed with it) without mucous on/in our stool the poops would be awfully dry and hard to get out so it's natural for our bodies to create mucous.

When the stool gets more formed after a flare, the colon might be producing more mucus and that's normal.

It's also normal for those of us with IBS as well as UC.

I'd say it's probably the enema throughout the stool...

You have a ways to go yet....welcome to the both ends approach!

You're improving.....doesn't mean you're out of the woods...but it's awesome you can use and retain the rectal meds and that your flare is mild.

It's all good.....

I'm not currently using any rectal meds but first thing in the am when I start having BM's I notice whitish mucus on my stool so it's hard to say for sure...as the day goes by I don't see it anymore, usually just the first and maybe sometimes the second BM I have of the day, after that it's all brown.
