Hoping to receive Remicade 1 week earlier

     My GI doctor comes back from vacation tomorrow.  I phoned the nurse who gives me my Remicade infusions and she penciled me in for this Friday but has to wait for the ok from my doctor.  The way I feel now, I just cannot wait till the 26th.  Trying my darndest to stay off the prednisone.  Only been off it for about a week after a short stint....20 days...short for me.  Hoping and praying the 4th infusion of Remicade helps like the first two did.

I feel your pain. I tried to stay off pred, but I am back on it now. It isn't helping a ton, honestly, so I am hoping after my flex sig tomorrow, they will schedule me for a Remicade infusion as well-and I really hope it helps.

What is the plan for you if the Remicade doesn't do the trick?

     Well Laura, if I did build up antibodies against Remicade my next course of action is to try Humira.  If that doesn't work then I guess it is bye byes to the coloncry .

Just in case it gives you hope- for us the infusions had to be at 10 mgs per kilo at 6 weeks to work. Started at 12 wks, would you believe, then 8 then 6 --first 5mg then 7.5mg the 10 mgs. So, play with the dose a bit-rachet it up to see if it brings remission. We have had 1 great year. Slipping a bit now, but the year has been wonderful.

Ugh. I hope you haven't already built up antibodies to it. I guess at least there is still Humira, but I completely understand how you are feeling. Remicade is my last hope, since the Humira has failed me now-and even though I feel ok with eventually being on the path to surgery, I am just not there yet. It is such a big step.

I am keeping prayers going for you, and I will be anxious to here how things go after your next infusion.
