I was recently diagnosed with right-sided colitis about
a month ago and put on prednisone (30 mg. down from 40) and Lialda (just switched yesterday from Asacol hd 800 mg.) Anyways, in just a matter of 3 weeks my stools are formed, no blood and mucus, and my energy level sky rocketed. But in the past 3 days I have had this horrible pain in my right side that feels like a knife is stabbing me and will not go away. I went to the gastro yesterday and she says it is where my colon is and that it is still really inflamed and she prescribed me Imuron (which really freaks me out and I have not started taking it yet.) So, my question to you guys is, what do you do for the pain? I am allergic to all narcotic pain meds and tylenol barely takes the edge off. Should I be fasting?

I was going to suggest hydrocodone, which is what I am taking, but I read where you said you were allergic to all narcotic pain meds.
Personally, I would not fast but stick to a low residue diet while having that pain.

What do you mean by a low residue diet? I have been in intense pain for around 13 hours straight now, and this is the longest it has ever been at any one time. I am very worried here...
