Remi & C diff?

I have been taking remicade since last october. I have done great until this last infusion Jan. 25. It just hasn't seemed to help at all. I also go a lung infection the weekend after infusion. Was on Amoxillin for a week. I am now having lots of burning pain, bleeding and discomfort and diarhea. I had a c diff infection last year and GI thinks I might have it again. I am feeling similar to how I felt with c diff. It just has gotten that bad yet.

Has anyone contracted c diff while taking Remicade and how did it effect you?

Two immunosuppressants isn't that unusual. Some doc's think that the 2nd makes the Remi work longer. We stayed on 6mp, though at a reduced dose. No, haven't had a secondary infection, but it is possible. We also had reduced effectiveness of the Remi just this Jan, but things have stabilized. Increased the 5asa's and added the rectal meds and increased the 6mp. We will see. Perhaps they will give you a course of antibiotics, like Flagyl to see if it helps. C-diff is testable, but can take awhile(up to 3 days of stool samples). I am also not a doc....

Turns out it wasn't c diff. Just my good ole uc. Gotta Hate It. Back on Pred. Three immunosuppressants. YEAH! I hope Remi hasn't stopped working. My next infusion is March 11. We'll see. GI appointment Monday. I'll keep ya'll posted.
