Funny as we know it, this disease can make you lose weight when flaring and gain weight when on steroids. My problem is I gained 40lbs from my last flare being on pred. I went into remission and was unsuccessful getting the weight off only to find myself in another flare. I have never been this heavy. When I was in remission I exercised and watched my diet only to lose 27 inches and 7 lbs. which is good, but not knocking off the weight I put on. Now, I'm taking cort enemas, which bloat me up and put on a few pounds. I'm afraid if the enemas do not work I'll be on pred again. Anyone been in a similar situation? How do you get the weight off while on steroids? It feels like a no win battle. On top of feeling bad because of a flare, being heavy adds to it. Exercising is difficult when flaring and so are food choices. I eat healthier when not flaring. I seem to eat alot of carbs when flaring: bread, soup, mashed potatoes...soft food that easily digests. Exercising is almost impossible when you feel so run down and have to use the bathroom so much. Anyone have any good tips???
