Remicade and lowered immune system

I started Remicade in December 2009 and it has worked GREAT.  I have been sick with a severe sinus infection and cold two times since my first dose.  Both times it took over a week to even get well enough to want to get off the couch! Is this normal and has anyone else had the same issues???? confused Any advice on how to boost my immune system?  I don't think a cold has ever gotten me down like this before.

I haven't had too many problems with being ill while on Remi, but I do recommend taking Vitamin D and a good Probiotic to help with your immune system. When I feel a cold coming on, I usually take Zicam and it helps. Also remember to wash your hands frequently, and don't put them near your mouth, eyes, or ears. Glad to hear the Remi is working to keep your symptoms at bay!

I haven't had problems with infections either. In fact, I'll get one of those swollen-feeling sore throats that tells us a cold is coming, it will last for a couple of days and then it just goes away. I haven't had a true cold for three or four years (knocking on my head for luck.)

Lonie's recommendations are spot on. Wash hands, keep them away from your face and take a really good probiotic.

I have had the same problems with colds and sore throats lingering much longer while on the bioliogics (Remi before, Humira currently).  I take all the standard precautions, take extra vit D, etc (the one thing I can't tolerate well are vit C supps though) and still this problems lingers, at least during the winter.  Recently I got a Vit C infusion to avoid the gastro efefcts of vit C and that seemed to help snap me out of an almost 2 week long severe cold... expensive but perhaps worth it as long as I am on these drugs.
