sad :(

let me start by telling you guys im back name maribel had ulcertive coltis for almost 4 years been feeling real good for almost 2 years already.. never came off on the asacol 3 pills 3 times aday and  prednisone but was just taking 5mg which i didnt mind then went down to 3mg so i was super happy i was starting to believe it was going away till 3 weaks ago started with really bad diarrhea and the blood came back went to my GI and picked up my meds to 10mg of pred :( but still kept feeling bad my stomach pain was killing me went to er  they told me i had an infection my white cells had came back a lil high so gave me sum iv antibiotics gave me a prescription of antibiotics and sum vicodin and let me go home but the pain wouldnt go away or bloody diarrhea so went back they admit me there my infection was gone thank god but still had a lil blood and diarrhea my GI couldnt even go see me there because he didnt belong to that hospital they didnt want to give me no more then 10mg of prednisone till monday and was there since thursday morning today is barely sunday so i was so upset i was feeling soooo sick finally a doctor not a GI came to see me gave me 80mg of prednisone my blood stoped still have lil diarrhea but i told doctor i wanted to come home already dont no if i did the right thing but honestly didnt think they were doing anything i couldnt do at home.. going to go see my GI on monday morning which ive had for almost 4 years already.. do you guys think i did wrong?? i feel so depress rite now i was starting to believe i was getting better :( i have 3 beautiful boys a 15 yr old 11 yr old and a 7 yr old i hate it when they see me like this :( thanks to my husband who has been taking them to the mall or just anywhere so they wont get sad as well..

I agree with SueBear-new GI is important. There are other meds that you should try. Pred at 80??? YIKES, you'll be tapering for a year!
So sorry you are sad-it is a crummy disease, and hard to be an upbeat mother when you feel pain. Try to do something nice for yourself. Tell the kids about your condition so they don't get frightened. There are some new items to learn from just this site, so welcome back.

I know I am kind of a rogue on these boards, but I would suggest asking if you can try sulfasalazine in low dosage and really give the canned spinach & sunflower diet a try along with a good probiotics, vit D about 4000 a day ,vit A, digestive enzymes. May not help, but it might. The real cures are a longer slower process of recovery.

I just feel for anyone who suffers with this disease for so long. If you were on pred for that long then the Asacol wasn't working or making you worse from the way it sounds.

i need some advise called today my insurance to see an other GI and they told me i would have to change the plan on my insurance so if i wanted to start today it would be ready by next week but ive been sick should i wait or go for it??
