Location of blood on stool - what does it mean?

My daughter (with pancolitis) has been having large hard stools recently. There were sometimes a couple of specks or at most drops of blood on her stool at times (bright red) but they would go away. We figured it was just her colon healing and the poop irritating it. Then yesterday she had a gigantic stool with blood (not much but really too much for me) at the very end tip. It was very fresh, bright red. She went again, no blood really, but there was some on the tp.
Today, another big stool and blood on the end tip.
Does the location of the blood on the end of the poop mean it's the irritation is in the rectum? Is it a fissure?
I'm confused, thought I'd ask the experts. Thanks in advance.

Does that mean that the blood comes out first on the stool or is on the entire stool?

Just stating what my two gastro docors and NP told me.  My scopes showed only proctitis but little up sigmoid in one scope.  Every morning first things coming out - on end of stool was bright red blood usually mixed with mucous or separate.  After that no more blood until next day.  They all said the inflammation (open ulcers) were in my rectum as seen on scope and blood "pooled" in rectum overnight.  I never had blood with D during day - only first thing in the morning.  Have not seen that since taking prednisone last summer/fall.  Been ok since tapering prednisone and just using rectal meds.  Sometimes I feel a little pressure, discomfort and I use the rectal meds for a couple days and all is ok.  Keeping fingers crossed.  I don't honestly think UC is ever gone - just "quiet".

I don't know exactly, either... but if it's bright red, it's from fairly low (which is good) and if it's just on the stool and a puddle or pool, that's good, too....

It does sounds to me as if she's healing, The road there may not be without the occasional detour, but the trend seems to have been positive..... I sure will hope it keep heading that way - !

My old GI used to say that bleeding could be the last symptom to disappear, because if the tissue was healing but still fragile, a hard stool or bit of anything sharp could bring on a little blood.
