I'd say they're pretty equal in terms of what part of the colon they treat, quite honestly. Apriso is a lower dose, but the theory is that since it's such a different formulation (in terms of how it dissolves) it's actually more effective at distributing the mesalamine. Whether that's true or not is another story, though. FWIW, I've been on Apriso since July or Aug, and have been in a really great remission. I was in remission on Asascol, though, before I switched. Also, the only reason I chose Apriso over Lialda is because it worked out to be cheaper for me. If Lialda had been cheaper, I'd have picked it. I just wanted to be taking fewer pills a day and all in one dose, b/c I was having trouble remembering doses of Asacol.
