We have two cats, boy and girl, from the same litter, 12 years old. One "belongs" to each kid. The male, I believe, has serious transpecies issues (lol)- he acts like a dog, runs to the door when someone knocks, guards my younger son's room.... the female is absolutely sweet, affectionate, loves to be cuddled. She especially loves my older son (who is at college) and when he picks her up, - he's always held her like a baby, and she gazes into his eyes and puts her paw on his chin and purrs, nuzzles his neck!
When he's not home, she greets me each morning - she talks a lot. She was the one who was sick. The vet tested her out for a bunch of stuff, came up with elevated liver enzymes.... but after 2 weeks of meds all levels were fine again. We wonder if she got into something... I was wondering about "ice melt" chemicals coming into the house on shoes, despite my best efforts for a "shoes off" policy at the door.
Now, off course, it's shedding and furball season. I need to brush them more to help with that.
My biggest organ playing day of the year is Easter, and the next day I have hip surgery. I chose that bizarre timing - it doesn't give me much chance to angst over either event! I ought to be in the hosp 3 nights - it's a special "joint center" with private rooms and intense rehab. The surgeon says 50% of his patients go right home and have PT come to them... so that is my preference. The week after I get home my younger one has a school vacation week, so... we can help each other. (He is a good cook, so that can be his job.)
They advertise that patients can bring laptops, so I'm hoping to do that and be in touch.
My wonderful husband will take off as needed; certainly some of the hospital days and the first day I'm home. He commutes 2 hours each way to work, so his flexibility is a bit limited, but he's worked it out so he can be on call for us quite a bit. And he's taking on my organ playing job during my recuperation!
Venting to you all has helped a lot - thanks!
