When I had my colonoscopy Friday, my GI told my mom (I was still out of it) that my colon looked better and the rectal area was inflamed (so he prescribed an enema). His office called me the other day to say the samples he took showed inflammation so he wanted me to continue the foam enema and make a follow up appt in two weeks. My question: Was he expecting to find this (since I do suffer from UC shouldn't inflammation be expected)? Remicade put me in remission for almost 2 years so I'm assuming it has to look better from my original colonoscopy! I'm worried by the whole "come for a follow up appointment." Is this normal? I feel like if it wasn't that bad (like he made it seem to my mom) he would just have me call in if things got worse or make an appt in a couple months, instead of coming in to see him in 2 weeks. Anyways, I'm afraid I'm gonna hear "it didn't look as bad then but the results showed it was" or something along those lines. What are your experiences with colonscopies and follow-up appointments with your GIs? Should I be worried that he wants to see me in 2 weeks after finding inflammation or is it usual protocol to have a follow-up no matter what the results are (although I'm assuming most UC sufferers show inflammation in their biopsies)? I'm really hoping he's not gonna say the results make him want to take me off Remicade because despite this flare, it has worked miracles for me!
