Dangers of CT scans

This was on the news the other day. Great, a month before my GI ordered a CT scan of my pelvic area. Heard the CT scans give 40 x more radiation than the usual xray. The only other CT scan I ever had was 2 yrs ago in the hospital when admitted. Please beware.

I think though, unless someone has repetitive CT scans, that the radiation produced by these machines leave the body over time so the cumulation effect is not much of a factor. I had one this year to see if I had kidney stones and very rarely do I ever have xrays so I am assuming I am safe...I hope! :)

Is the only danger radiation? (not sure what that does). My husband has a CT scan every 12 weeks for two years and a few extras for his lung cancer. Just wondering. Doctor says now that he has been stable a while he is spreading it out to about 16 weeks. He also has had several chest xrays! Two years in remission - he had 35 radiation treatments and 4 chemo treatments then.
