I shared this on the Crohn's forum. My GI suspects that what I thought was UC may be Crohn's disease and I will be undergoing new tests shortly. Anyway this is a novel way to treat a supposedly autoimmune disease. What is the follow-up, this article is over 6 years old:

looks interesting but the story was from 2004. If it was effective you would think in 6 years it would have been followed up. I suggest contacting the Dr Michael Epstein quoted. Google him + leukine and you may be able to track down his hospital/university who could put you in contact.

Also because our immune systems are attacking us, I doubt stimulating it would help. We want to calm it down and reprogram it...

In regards to crohn's there's an increasing amount of research that shows that boosting the immune system actually does benefit patients, supporting the theory that CD is caused by a weak, not hyperactive immune system ie. http://www.ibduk.com/immune-system-boost-helps-crohns.html. The use of LDN for CD, MS and other AI diseases backs this up, as it boosts the immune system.
I personally don't believe that auto immune disease has no underlying cause and is simply the result of a faulty immune system, they just don't know what the cause(s) are yet.
