Decided to add another probiotic-IDIOT!

Last Thursday evening I started a new probiotic-Solaray acidopholus 12. I figured the more bugs down there the better. Over the weekend I noticed things softening up a bit but put it down to a bit of a Herx. Yesterday morning I woke up to the sounds of a babbling brook running through my innards and said uh oh. Yup, last nite that babbling brook became a waterfall. Didn't take it last night-took my PB8 instead and woke up this morning to the hollow echoing sound I am used to. That sound coupled with enough methane to have Al Gore concerned, and a solid BM told me I was already getting back to normal. Solaray has b.lactis,b.infantis,l.brevis,l.bulgaricus,and s.thermophilus on top of what is in the PB8. One of those little varmints set me off. A couple of them are considered transitory so maybe they wanted to move right on through.
I learned NOT to mess with a good thing!

Sorry to hear your bad experience! So does this mean that there is such a thing as too many live bacteria to take via probiotics? I'm taking Align but was wanting to take something with at least 10 billion live cultures... Anyone with advice?

I am very leery of adding supplements. Like songlady says "if it ain't broke,,," but I am also reading about others success and want to zoom into 100% remission. I tried a digestive pill. Nonononono. Bad. Very bad.

BUT I have been reading and reading about VSL#3 and finally ordered it. I already take an acidophilus probiotic (not Solaray)in the morning which is the only one SCD approves of. They do not approve of multiple strains of probiotics.
The experiment began yesterday, I took half a packet of VSL#3. No problems and a good 24 hours.
This morning I took the other half. Another even better day. Dare I hope? It seems like it actually helps whereas the I couldn't tell if other acidophilus pill was doing anything at all.
