worried now about my mum

my mum rang me this morning,, said she was bleeding from the back passage alot last night and it was still there this morning,, i told her to get in touch with her GP asap,, and she has done and one is coming out to see her today,, my mum is disabled,, she has lots wrong with her ,,she has a bad heart, diabetes, osteprosis (cant spell that one) arthritis, she cant walk either due to bad knees, shes just had a knee op but still cant walk much at all,,, also in the past she had polups and she had them removed, she is soo scared she has bowel cancer,,, my grandad died 35 yrs ago of bowel cancer so long time ago they work miracles now i know,,, i told her not to panick to much it could be her hemroids,,, but she doesnt think so,,,she was like oh my what if i have what you have got,, i said well we see what the gp says he may send you for colonoscopy,, so i am just bit worried about her right now, all i can be is there for her,,

     Tell her not to stress about cancer so soon.  I understand how she feels.  My paternal grandmother died from bowel cancer at age 65 in 1952.  When I first became ill in 1998, bleeding from the rectum, diarrhea, fever, I was 52 yrs old and afraid to be hospitalized because I was certain it was bowel cancer too.  It turned out to be ulcerative proctitis.  Nasty disease but not a death sentence.  After suffering with this for almost twelve years and running the gamut of meds though, I am ready for surgery and meeting with a colorectal surgeon next week.

     I hope your mom finds relief real soon, she has been though too much already.

When I first started bleeding, I was a newlywed and I was terrified that I was dying of cancer - I remember looking at my husband and feeling sad that he'd be a widower at age 28....!
And at that point it was just a bit of UP for me.

So - I certainly understand her fear, but it sounds as if she's calmed down some, and she knows you live with UC and you survive... hopefully the docs will get a handle on it for her.
