GI Nurse called with my biopsy results from my scope last week. She said everything came back normal with no evidence of colitis. I don't need to be on Rx meds and they don't need to see me or do a scope for 5 years, unless I have a return of symptoms. The nurse said the absence of colitis in the biopsy could mean 1 of 2 things:
1. Colitis is in complete remission
OR
2. At the time of my last scope I had an infection that mimicked colitis. It's now gone, and I don't have colitis.
Of course I'm rooting for #2 to be true, but I know it's more likely #1 b/c I have had flares and remissions for 10 years. Either way, it's great news! Don't lose hope, you should have seen how angry and inflamed my entire colon was on my scope 2 years ago. Now my colon is a normal peachy color. All with no Rx meds, except a 3 week course of pred. I couldn't be more happy.
