Hello,
I went to a new naturopath doctor and he suggested I try making my own enemas using licorice tea.. Anyone ever tried or heard of this?
Any feedback is much appreciated,
Thanks,
Hanz

Are you sure it was not slippery elm?
I was given some supplements with slippery elm by a naturopath.
A licorice enema sounds ridiculous to me.

Licorice enemas sound ridiculous to me also but I know the Chinese are experimenting with licorice as a cure for ulcerative colitis. (They don't have the patent considerations that prevents our big pharma from researching natural cures.)
Licorice has an anti-inflammatory, antiallergic and antiarthritic effect similar to that of cortisone but without its side effects. Maybe it helps the same way that prednisone is supposed to help with IBD.

I know licorice root tea is suppose to help boost the adrenal glands. I drank it while and after I was doing my last prednisone taper. But I read that if you were on blood thinners you should not take it. And you are not suppose to drink it more then 6 weeks. It makes me wonder if an enema with it would increase bleeding? Just a thought/question.

I heard the the same thing Beeswax. I dunno, it sounds sort of dangerous to be honest - maybe you should ask this naturo the best way to use them?

Licorice is widely used as a anti-inflammatory agent.
Make sure you are buying licorice and not salmiac.
There are an italian company which sells 100% licorice (taste really good) named renee voltaire.
