I'm not having any luck from Apriso, Prednisone, or steroid enema. I just started Imuran. about
5 days into it. not long enough to judge it yet. but I am still having alot of bleeding and cramps, pain diarrhea etc. the usual fun stuff. each person is different than the other. some people don't respond to any type of meds and need surgery, and sometimes surgery is the best option. prolonging this medicine intake and dealing with this disease just sets you up for more complications down the road. like colon cancer, lymphoma etc. there was a great symposium I listened to by a GI surgeon about
the importance of not waiting. I think its the road I must travel in the near future. but I haven't tried Remicade yet. so good luck to ya!

Yes, CP, good luck! Just remember that statistics show that 20-30% of UCers will fail medical treatment. That doesn't mean you have failed in treating your disease.

sue, who was your surgeon? that is the scary part. picking someone that won't mess you up too bad. I think It something I should be ready to look into and have a decision for when the time comes. I'm not too optimistic about
my meds. or Remicade. I am going to try it regardless. but still not hopefull.

CP,
I had my surgeries in Los Angeles with Dr. Robert Beart. I'm not sure where you live but you can get great surgeon recommendations in your state by asking the question at www.j-pouch.org A good surgeon is key to a great outcome!
