     My condition has been steadily improving since last Sunday :-) .  Today was my very first formed bowel movement with no pressure, urgency or cramping.  Taking long walks with hubby, an hour each day to get in shape for that nuclear stress echo on Tuesday.  Prednisone tapered to 30 mgm and will go down to 25 mgm Monday.  If things continue to improve maybe I can be down to 10 mgm by the time of surgery....sure hope so.  I believe the cort enemas and Canasa suppositories are doing their fare share  too. smilewinkgrin

Must be confusing with the surgery coming up but it's better to be healthy for it! I'm sure you're making the right choice =)

I'm so glad the prednisone kicked in! You deserve to be comfortable while you wait for your surgery! Yay! :o)

Hi Christine, I am new to writing on the forum, but I have been lurking around here for a while :) I have followed your story and am sooo happy to see that things are improving for you. I hope things will continue to get better!! Great news!

       Thanks....and yes...I know I am making the right decision for surgery but we all know how wonderful remission feels...like there is NOTHING at all wrong...but OOOOH when that UC looms its ugly head (or rear in my case)...you just sit on that pot in pain and think...."ooooh why am I suffering with this when I could have had it taken out?"

      Elephant pie...my surgery is two weeks from Monday.  I just received the A OK from my insurance company for them to go ahead with the surgery.  I am a worry wart though...worry about having a stroke while under the knife..ugh.  I have had episodes, during colonoscopies and flex sigs where my blood pressure has soared and that makes me a bit anxious.

Christine - I just read your post in the thread about "almost remission and cobnfused" - and I have to tell you, I think through things over and over again - and sounds as if you might share this trait with me. When I had my hip replaced this spring, I was soooooo on the fence about having it done. It took those nearest and dearest to me to keep telling me I really needed it done, for me to do it. In fact, that question had so overtaken my life that the morning AFTER the surgery I started to go through my "how bad is the hip?... can I live with it....?" thinking and then had to laugh at myself because I suddenly remembered it was already done!
I tell you all this to say: you made your decision... trust and go with the flow.

     I am glad you had your hip surgery and things worked out well.  A few years back we lost a dear friend following hip surgery and it was truly tragic and needless.  I believe they od'd him on morphine.  He came out of surgery and recovery fine.  When they wheeled him into his room, he told  his wife he had a lot of pain.   The nurse came in and said..."oh, we can fix that." and gave him a shot.  They fixed it alright...he never woke up!  I believe my friend should have pursued a big law suit there but she was in so much shock  that she didn't even have an autopsy done!!!!  Big coverup there.  Since then, that hospital has been under a lot of scrutiny.  That is why I will not go to a hospital  here in south Jersey for any major surgery.  I know they all make boo boos but I think the big hospitals in Philly have better quality staff.  At least I HOPE so..lol.

Christine, I'm glad you are feeling better while you are preparing for surgery, it would be so hard to try to deal with the details while feeling so bad.

And wow, long walks!  Go you!!!
