Unfortunatly for me I can't say that I am flare free! I hate colitis medication and will stick to it at first but then come off it. I took no medicine for the past 3 years except for a week of pregnisolone here and there when a flare was coming on. I've since learned that this was the worst possible way to control my colitis! I have had a massive flare recently!
I am horrible at sticking to diets, however I did read 'The Gabrielle Method'. This is a weightloss diet book, however hsi approach is not about eating less. The book basically says eat as natural as you can. Heaps of green leafy vegies, no processed meats, a little bit of time for meditation. I found that I could only start the diet once in remission as when I'm crook green leafy veggies disagree with my body. Once I got on the diet however I experienced no symptoms. I think it's a fantastic book and a great diet however I am horrible at sticking to these things so eventually I stopped.
I do practice a little bit of relaxation/meditation whenever I experience a flare. I focus individually on each muscle in my body, tense it and then relax it. Then I immagine healing light comming out of my belly and I recite the word 'heal' over and over again. I think it helps. Stress brings on colitis so it only makes sence that relaxing can help calm the symptoms.
Good luck on your journy and I hope this diet works for you! Please keep us updated!
