Colitis - Perminant damage to your bowel?

My last big flare was a bad one and a scope last summer during a period of remission showed 'confluent scarring' all the way through :(. So yes, permanent damage is very possible. But I suppose the important thing is how the bowel functions when you're not flaring - in my case, 1-2 b/ms per day, occassionally 3, occassionally 0 - so, NORMAL, basically.

permanent scarring can occur if the flare is long enough. I have 18 inches from the rectum up that looks like a piece of pvc pipe, white in color and no mucosa at all.My last scope in Dec 2010.
The histo said that there was dysplasia.I would think that would be normal for all the scar tissue. Scar tissue would be abnormal for the colon.Has anyone been turned down for life insurance because of dysplasia?Thought I would ask.
