Anyone with experience with radiation and UC?

I am a usual poster over in the prostate cancer forum of Healing Well, but not here. I have UC, and am scheduled for radiation treatments for my prostate cancer in August. Plan is 40 treatments over 8 weeks totaling 72 grays to the prostate bed area (my prostate has already been removed surgically). That is close to the large intestines, rectum, etc. so I am concerned about my UC flairing up, which is pretty well under control right now. Could not find others with prostate cancer that had UC so I thought I would check here for experiences others had with radiation in that region of the body.
Anyone?
I am presently being treated with 9 x 500 mg of Colazal daily and 1 canasa suppository at night. Plan is to switch to Apreso (sp?) soon.

Thanks, songlady. I'll plan on using being mindful of probiotics while on the radiation. Presently, things are pretty good - my disease in the past has been mostly in the lower sigmoid area, but the present treatment has addressed that pretty well. Last colonoscopy showed that there is some trouble in the transverse area, and thus the plan to switch to Apriso. I am hopeful that it still addresses the lower area as well.

Thanks for your concern and the article, Babe. It implies that Glutamine may be beneficial for addressing damage caused by the radiation - anyone have a suggestion as to the best way to use it? I think this is something readily available at my local pharmacy or health food store - is there a better kind to get, dosage, etc?
