Sorry to ask such.

I know most are used to looking at the bowl before flushing but can someone please explain;

Stool of normal consistency but has lines (along the stool) of dark brown mucous (maybe a little blood).

What's that all about? Especially the lines!

In my opinion.. this is just signs of a flare, either coming out of a flare or one begining.

In basic terms, think of the colon as a tube. And in that tube there are areas that are a bit more fragile then others. In the fragile sections the stool rubs along it (sores, ulcers etc) causing the streaks.

I just would like to say that a posting like this is why I love this place. No where else(beside a dr office) can we go into so much detail and get so much support rather than weird looks. It is great to know we can talk about anything in such detail on here and everyone understands exactly what we are talking about.

Not sure the answer to your question but keep on posting and getting all the advice from everyone!

no, they aren't the most pleasant things to talk about but I think we're all dealing with the same kinds of issues. these things are easier to talk about when you talk about them with people that understand what you are going through and have to deal with the same issues. thats what support groups are all about.

You're obviously flaring and hopefully using the enemas nightly.
The maroon colour would be blood that's sat in the lower area if it's bled after your last bm. No biggie, as long as you're treating it.

The colour of the blood could also be what's mixed with the Salofalk enemas....will turn a purplish colour.

We talk poop here....seems normal considering it's a UC forum.

Thanks so much you guys.

It's this site that keeps my stress levels down (and therefore my symptoms!!!).

In all seriousness it's great to be able to ask these ugly questions and feel like you aren't alone. Great also to hear from those like Quincy with such a great understanding of this.

Yah. I know. When I was passing blood clots, I tried to show my boyfriend one of them. There was absolutely no poo on it. It was just a round bubble of blood. He wouldn't look at it though. He said it was too much information.

round bubbles of blood....it's been a long while since I had that...forgotten totally.

I showed my husband the first time it was filled with blood...he was horrified.

m.Dot....thanks for the kind words...I have to remember that what I say on here I don't say as descriptively elsewhere..lol, except to my husband.

i think that's from mucusy blood (sticky causing the bubble) and from lots of gas pushing it out. interesting....we're so talented..lol!
